Obscured vs overcast...what the?

Another ...... vs ....... from me

What is the definition of sky obscured? Was down to 200m vis with fog this morning (NZCH).

What is the difference between sky obscured SKOBSC and OVC, overcast 8/8ths

Obscuration = ground based

Fog, smoke, haze are all ground based phenomenon that will obscure the sky from the observer.

In other words, he can't see what the actual sky condition is because there's something obscuring his vision.

Few, scattered, broken and overcast clouds are all part of the sky condition.

Yes it does. But it's not a ceiling, related to minimums. The term "broken" is.
