I don't know if this was the same aircraft but saw the other day an unknown 747 climbing out over Windsor with the main gear up but the nose gear very definitely still down (Pin left in?) Maybe this was the same chap who was vectored back round and had a few attempts to raise the gear by cycling it and then electing to leave it down albeit a fair way out. Usual co. SOP's dictate gear to be down by 2000' though several operators seem to use the 4 mile point.
