Sweaty Palms?

I was outside the office just now have a quick puff watching a BA 744 line himself up for landing at LHR and I thought: do you pilots ever get sweaty palms/racing pulse when you're putting the thing on the ground? Or taking off for that matter?

Intrigued.

Can't speak for people who fly big jets, but as somebody who flies little aeroplanes - yes.

Or at least I have been known in adverse conditions to get moderately stressed before and during a landing. Alternatively if I feel like that before a take-off, I generally don't bother and go away and think about what's worrying me. (Except of-course before a test, in which case everybody's nervous before take-off except the examiner).

As a wise man once said - take-offs are always optional, landings are usually mandatory.

I usually worry more about take-off because it means that me next G+T is some 8 hours away. Each landing reduces that period...
