BMA Near Miss at LBA

Did my eyes deceive me on 24/01/03 at 13:05 local when the BMA was on finals to RW 14 at LBA. Tracking it from base leg it appeared to make a standard left turn ( obviously don't know if PF was doing ILS or visual) onto finals and lowered its' gear.

At approx DH it climbed, retractedgear and departed to the left. Having seen nothing behind it I mmediately scanned to the SE and saw what appeared to be a 737 heading straight towards the airfield as though approaching from the end of RW 32.

I know I saw this second aircraft however the BMA crew advised the PAX that they had gone around, 'because something was on the runway'. This is what my colleague said as he was on the flight returning from Jersey.

Anyone got any insight.
