Charters

With so much capacity in the UK and in Europe, how is Qantas able to successfully operate charters from Heathrow to many places around Europe? I always thgought the Brits and Europeans were very protective of their patch and looked ater their own!

It operates with QF flight numbers however as far I know it is a BA contract sub-let to Qantas.

It uses the time the aircraft spends on the ground in London well
and they operate to the likes of Lisbon,Barcelona,Larnaca etc
for the cruise line passengers(God help the cabin crew)!!

NJR.

There was talk of a similar arrangement a couple of years ago between, if I remember, South African and Lufthansa. Aircraft to/from South Africa spend all day sat on the ground so the idea was that LH 'borrow' the SA aircraft to fly a short haul in Europe, using their own crews, and SA borrow the LH one down there. Did this ever actually happen?
