standing in the outside bar area at Pafos airport this year sipping a cool carlsberg in the early evening sun when a white 747 flew over. must be using the PFO VOR for navigation I thought, then it came round and landed ! never expected it as i thought the runway would've been too short
pulled up right in front of the bar, quite impressive to see such a beast at a small holiday type airport. 'you watch, some rich arabs will get out' i said to the girlfriend, but it was packed to the rafters with british holidaymakers
TF-ATC was the reg, leased by one of the tourist operators from Air Atlanta I believe. much like the 767-200 of Excelairways that we flew on.
Air Atlanta stickers round the door, fading white emulsion paint job, and the paint had run around the EXCEL word on the tail !!

Air Atlanta are flying charters out of UK Airports using their 747's, as many have stated. TF-ATC is based at Manchester at the moment, and I think there are some others elsewhere, so that could well be what you saw at Gatwick as they are not in the Atlanta livery, they are just all white. Does anybody know if they are flying for a holiday company, or what?
Also, does anyone know what happened to the Air Atlanta Tri-stars you used to see in the UK about 2 or 3 years ago? Are they still with Air Atlanta? I haven't seen one in the UK for some time.
Cheers,

The aircraft in question was TF-ATX of AAI operating under an Iran Air callsign. Ex BA machine converted to cargo i believe.
This flight operates every Saturday evening inbound ex SHJ,
outbound to THR.

I understand that all the AAI Tristars have all gone. TF-ABU that Monarch used as a standby unit went to the great scrapyard in the sky, somewhere in Norway i think.
