Simulators - public use - where?
Does anyone know anywhere in the US/UK where the Sims have been re-opened to the public for "pleasure" use?
Thanks,

The company who lets you use BA simulators at Cranbank (near LHR) is Virtual Aviation ( www.virtualaviation.co.uk )

I believe you can have a go in a B737 or Phantom in Knaresborough, Yorkshire.

I also spent an hour with a friend at Yorkshire Flight Centre - great fun.
Someone told me that this isn't an actual 737 simulator, but a mixture of bits from ither sims (I think a 1-11 was mentioned). They certainley market it as a 737, but I'm not sure. Either way, still a good experience.
By the way, if anyone fancies a change of career, YFC was advertised as 'for sale' recently in the local media. Not sure if it still is. I think the price was £600k for the syms and business, not including the property (converted barn).

I've been to the Yorkshire Flight Centre a couple of times. Apparently the sim is 'dumbed down' a bit to make it easier for first-timers to fly. It's definitely a 737 inside, apart from a dummy autopilot, and works well enough to satisfy a keen wannabe.
The Trident sim is a proper training aircraft, and is a lot of fun as they have the Kai Tak and JFK visuals among others. For £70 an hour it can't be beaten and if you're used to light a/c then most of the instrumentation will look familiar.
There's also European Aviation who have a 727 and a L-1011 sim which they'll happily let you have a go at for about £150 an hour, if I remember rightly.
