Offpath Descent in FMC
Is anybody using this function for their descents. I never see anybody using this.
If so, any suggestions of where or when it is useful would be appreciated.

I use it all the time. Maybe I see 1 in 500 others use it. Great instant info on your energy state. Very accurate if your magnetic bearing to the field approximates the landing runway thus always presents the worst case scenario. It does not account for track miles so if the runway is the opposite to your arrival track then you must account for that.

I personally use it often whenever being vectored on a track that deviates from a planned/FMC inserted STAR. Though it clutters the ND, but it gives a good indication of where I am placed 'wrt' to my inserted contraint/intended SPD-ALT-W/P target in OFFPTH DES PAGE.
I use it only for descents (if needed) till I start configuring.
ALT RANGE ARCs/FIX page entries CFXX/DME are also taken advantage of depending upon the a/c position wrt the FAF.
One good place I would think would be in HKG for early morning 6-7am arrivals where they cut you short real sharp, and OFFPTH DES would be helpful.
