Airbus thales v.1 : intercepting a radial in NAV

Hello
I saw a few pictures of the DIR TO page of the thales V.1 FMGS. I have noticed that the radial-in / out function does not exist . How do you guys that fly with this version of Thales intercept an extended radial in NAV mode i.e you are being vectored for a VOR procedure and you are given a heading that supposedly intercepts the final inbound course lets say 8 miles before the FAF .

How about creating a PBD further out?
If my memory serves me well I think the FMS would still intercept the course even before the FROM waypoint.
But it have been ages since I flew FMS 1 aircraft.
