Virgin Atlantic 747-400s, how long?

Are there any plans at all of Virgin Atlantic ordering more 747-400's now that they are going for the Airbus 380?
How long will the -400's last for until they are scraped?

They unlikely to be scraped if the wings are kept fairly level on landing!

Thumbs down

Not stricktly true Budgie. It is still possible to scrape the tail, even with the wings level.

Just leave them close to a baggage truck, a catering van, a bowser - they'll get scraped sooner or later

Hello Boys and Girls,

Speedbird744,

The litteral answer to your question - "Virgin Atlantic 747-400s, how long?" is, 231 ft 10 ins (70.7 metres) Other bits of info can be found at, http://www.boeing.com/commercial/747.../pf_facts.html

As for the answer to your actual question, I'm guessing there is quite a bit of life in them yet. not heard of any rumours of them being scrapped or even of any more being brought.
