B737-200 CRZ speeds
Can anyone who flies the above tell me what typical cruise/descent speeds are please, with a typical perf figure in the FMS?
Thanks.
Thanks.
For reasonable economy - not that these things are economical - try M0.74 cruise and initial descent into 280 knots then the usual 250 below 10,000 ft.

We used to put ZFW in it - It then gave max alt etc along with climb/descent speeds (and assumed temp for T/O too...)
The thing is, we all used to ignore the descent speed, figures below 250 were common on a light aircraft with a tailwind!
And yes, speeds around .72 to .73 were common.
Ed to add - It also did cruise speed (as above) with a headwind/tailwind feed from the nav box (if it worked! ;-) )

With dash 17 engines it was reckoned by some to be marginally quicker than the later Classics. But the high fuel burn killed it.
Also as the airframes aged, a performance penalty of up to 8% had to be applied to individual machines. The boiler plate reinforcing work around the roof and windows provided some clue to just how much more fuel would be guzzled to achieve schedule.
For all that, a great aeroplane!

I found max cruise was limited by NOISE.
fuel burn is one thing, but the noise in the cockpit really makes it a pain.
Set max cruise power and see how fast you go. Best speeds are around FL280.
