Believe its a BMed aircraft. Presumably in for some kind of heavy maintenance?

Was a B-Med aircraft. Lease now finished (replaced with 321). Believe no immediate prospects so guess the engines are being used elsewhere.

Or it could be the bean counters taking things a bit too far!!!

Just a thought, if the aircraft was leased in then it is possible that the engines were leased in too, from another source - they have now been returned. May sound weird but these things do happen.

Yes, G-Khan,
Leasing the engines/airframe seperately is quite common, and further, there are airlines that own the airframe and lease the engines in, some rather large advantages are to be had apparently!
Cheers

Apparently it's the latest BA cost-saving measure due to the likely petrol price increase in today's budget. They are said to be trying to source a diesel version.

BA A320 at GLA

Without engines, why isn't it sitting on it's tail? Or did the Captain's leave his wallet on the left hand seat.

The engines are being serviced at the Rolls-Royce factory in East Kilbride and apparently it is cheaper to park it in Glasgow rather than drive the engines up from down south. The only probelm with that is of course that the aircraft is out of service for all this time.

Using info from www.avnclub.demon.co.uk (was last updated 4/4)

"G-MEDB 'Rendezvous' last revenue service was BA6712
05Mar ADD-ALY-LHR and stood down. Parked at LHR."

Probably that a/c.

BA's 320 at GLA running on Air!

Saw a British Aiways A320 at GLA yesterday with both engines removed. What's going to happen to it can anyone say?

It just goes to show that you can't leave anything unattended in Glasgow... For just a few quid and a bottle of Irn Bru and vodka they could have got a couple of local kids to watch it....!!!

Re: BA's 320 at GLA running on Air!

theres already another topic on this dafty,

the aircrafts engines are in Rolls royce for overhaul in east kilbride, the aircraft is owned by british Med, cheaper to park the aircraft at GLA for 8 weeks than frieght the engines up from gatwick,

see ya
