Before the introduction of the EASA License, as long as you had 3500 hours command time on an aircraft above 35 tonnes you would receive a credit for all the theoretical exams with the exception of Air Law and Human Factors. I don't know what the requirements are now but would expect something similar.
Best way would be to contact one of the Authorities directly, CAA, IAA etc. Hope this helps.

You have to write all the exams, but you don't have to do a theoretical knowledge course (i.e. you can self-certify), although you would be very unwise to take the exams without proper preparation.
I'll leave it to others for the flying bit

The link below is a reply I made to somebody who wanted to get a ICAO licence in SA with a view of converting it to EASA later.

You have to do all 14 examinations and only get the credit for the theoretical training if you satisfy ALL of the requirements for EASA Part-FCL ATPL issue.
The recent correpsondence we have received from CAA LSD FCL states that the Type Rating in the ICAO ATPL MUST be both valid and current and on an EASA Multi-Pilot Aircraft to be used for ATPL Skill Test.
So, you need:
We've had a few enquiries recently from ATPL holders with Be350 Type Ratings, which are NOT EASA MPA and as such would not qualify the holder for reduced theory requirements, at least not without a specific exemption from the CAA.
Therefore, the holder would need to complete ALL training (theory and flight) requirements with separate CPL(A) and IR(A) Skill Tests.

- ICAO Annex 1 ATPL(A)
- Valid & current Type Rating on EASA MPA to be used for ATPL Skill Test
- 1,500 hours Total Time
- 500 hours on multi-crew operations (not guaranteed but these may be accepted on certain SPA provided it is being operated as multi-crew under an AOC)
- 250 hrs PIC or 500 hrs PICUS or split 70 hrs PIC/180 hrs PICUS
- 200 hrs X-Country (100 hrs PIC/PICUS)
- 75 hrs Instrument (30 hrs Sim Max)
- 100 hrs Night PIC/Co-Pilot

ICAO TO EASA
Hi 2close
many thanks for the info. I am current on 737-3/4/8, 12000hrs total time, 800 command on the 737. flight experience I am assuming will meet the requirements, so by the sounds of things would have to do all exams and then flight test?
kind regards
