Could Boeing stretch the 747-8

I've been reading some articles on the 777x variants that are proposed. The largest being 250ft long, however the 747-8 as a stretched derivative of the 400 is still only 224ft long. Could there be a further stretch for the 748 to make it competitive with the A380/777 class or would that require too much of a redesign with respect t the landing gear geometry and size of the engine pods.

Isn't the 748 already 250ft? A further stretched version would simply make it impossible to maneuver and park at most airports. The A388 is still ~10ft shorter and would be impossible to compete with on those terms.
