Wink Air Scandic NCL base

g-conaty

NCL has a based B757-200 from Air Scandic (leased from Finnair). As last year, it will operate all of the SCY programme from NCL, the A300's only being used for subcharter purposes and operational requirements. The A300's are busy too at MAN, operating a busy IT program throughout the summer.

The NCL flying as stated is on the AY 757 : Flightdeck are Finnair employed, and Cabin Crew are from Air Scandic. The aircraft remains in the Finnair colours as it is usually returned at the end of each month, and does an aircraft swap for another in Helsinki or Manchester.

On board you can expect to be offered Headsets, Bar/Wine, Hot Meal, Tea/Coffee X 2 and time permitting another bar service.

IFE is usually a movie each way, with a comedy showing after the movie outbound and a news orientated roundup showing inbound.

The 757's which are rotated, normally doing about a month at NCL and MAN each are very well looked after and are fairly new anyway. Finnair send engineers on detachment to NCL, so one is always present to see things are OK.

MAN has a based AY 757-200 also this summer as opposed to last years Icelandic aircraft (in addition to the 2 A300-B4's).

So far, the season seems to have started fine for SCANDIC, hopefully it will continue and be as much of a success as 2001.

cheers

Air Scandic

Hi g_conaty,

Have a look at www.airscandic.com

Here's a couple of pics for you:

The A300: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/191821/L/
The B757: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/117278/L/

At Manchester at the moment, Scandic have 1 (maybe 2??) A300's based, and a Finnair 757, and as starship says, there is also a Finnair 757 at Newcastle, which is very porbably what you will be flying on.

Reliability-wise, Scandic have a good safety record, and most flights appear to leave on time... I have certainly not observed any mega delays at MAN over the past few months. Operationally (in case you are interested) ATC callsign is Airscan, and the Finnair 757's use this callsign when operating Scandic services.

Have a good time on holiday Hope it's warmer than it is here anyway!

Cheers
