Instrument Approach Procedure to unlighted runway?
Hi,
I would appreaciate to get an answer to this question:
Is it possible that there's a IAP (both precision and non-precision) to a runway that is not lighted at all? I mean no light bulbs installed in the airport because it is operated only during daylight hours.
If it is not so, can anyone please direct me to the applicable guideline (AC or something)
Thank you very much!
Leo

I know up until recently, Queenstown, New Zealand (NZQN) had instrument approaches with no runway lighting installed.
Runway lighting has subsequently been installed, although there are still no night ops there.

Flown into a great number of runways with NPA's over the years without any lighting of any kind on the airfield.....most recently about 10 weeks ago. The majority of the aerodromes in question support jet operations.

If you check PANS-OPS (or whatever EASA have decided to do with it) for the "Effect on Minima of Failed or Downgraded Equipment" section, it will give you an idea of just how to minima are affected by no lights (amongst other things) too.
