No clue, but they do have a TSO and work quite nicely if you like Sennheiser products.

We have them (HMEC26) installed on our new 748s.

Sennheiser HMEC 26's

My airline claims that Boeing does not have this headset on it's list of approved headsets. This claim appears to be false as several airlines are using them on their Boeing fleets. I would appreciate a PM with contact details for the head of your avionics department. Thanks for the help.

You'll find that Mr. Boeing, like most other manufacturers approve nothing - unless you pay - per airframe! Just because Mega Airlines have an approval, it doesn't mean you have one - your airline will have nothing unless they have paid. So the question is, how much did did your airline pay? So asking to see another airline's approval is pointless.

PM

Perhaps the angle should be a health and safety issue? Has anybody got hard data on the decibel levels on B738's with and without noise guard headsets?

Having the same hassle with the same airline as you Mooney1.

Apparently the latest angle they are trying is Senneheiser SA are going to ask Boeing for a non-technical objection for the use of The HMEC 26 on our aircraft.

Aviation red tape can be so frustrating!

G'day Guys,

One of the pilots in the airline I work for has a personal Sennheiser headset and got an engineering approval (EA) form our engineering section to be able to use it while on duty.

We have company supplied HMEC 25 headsets fitted as standard.

Regards,
BH.

The latest feedback from (GW) Sennheiser South Africa is that Boeing and Sennheiser are currently busy with the required testing in order to get the 26's and 46's onto the Boeing approved list. Apparently this will be a slow process due to a lack of resources, whatever that means?
