ATPL issue time limit?

From a while back, I seem to remember being told or reading somewhere that there was a limit of 7 years from completing ATPL exams until you had to have your ATPL issued. Having checked CAP 804 and also having referred back to LASORS, there is no mention of this in the ATPL section so is there any truth in this?

My understanding is that everytime you renew your IR (SPA or MPA) it gives you another 7 years from that date. If your IR lapses for more than 7 years then the ATPL exams that were originally passed are invalid and you would then need to resit.
