Starting engine

Hey!
Can someone tell me what do i do in case when i'm starting the engine of a C152 e the oil pressure indicator is not in the green arc? Should i wait or shutdown the engine?
And which are the situations it might happen?

Thanks,

Caio Nacimento

The oil pressure should rise within 30 secs of startup, if not, you should shutdown the engine. Whether the oil pressure is in green or not, that should be checked during the run-up.

Have a look at the aircraft POH, section 4, normal/amplified procedures, in the one I'm looking at it's page 4-11. Where it says;

"After starting, if the oil gage does not begin to show pressure within 30 seconds in the summertime and about twice that long in very cold weather, stop the engine and investigate."

It could be caused by an oil pump failure, having little or no oil, a blockage, or a gauge failure.
