Question Advice required

I am now graduated newbie pilot and unemployed for 2 and a half years. After school I straight enrolled myself for flying without any foundation or degree programme. I am 22 now.

While waiting, I worked for a safety company and realized that I enjoyed doing the trade of business.

I realized recently that just a pilot license is not sufficient in this world today. Therefore I am planning to continue my studies and am aiming for a degree in eng. course ( maybe aeronautical eng. ). But if I do this degree course, my flying will be put on hold for about 4-5 years and for starters, am not sure how long my flying papers will last. Also, I feel that my parents have invested a lot of resources for me to do my pilot's license ( which I wanted to do initially ).

Should I just wait for a job to come through and make a decision now to continue to better myself by studying?

Tq in advance for all your help!
