Buying a headset for a Jet

Hi Guys,

I'm planning to buy myself a headset, the ones we use in the airplane are pretty crappy and I get a headache of wearing them
Now does anyone has some advice?
Good headset you use?
ANR or not?
Also some advice where to buy ? Around Netherlands, Uk, Belgium, Germany?

All advice greatly appreciated !

Check that the one you plan to buy is legal. If it's for an Airbus, you may find that if it's not a headset approved for use it the Airbus, you shouldn't use it. This may depend on your licencing authority, but in my airline, we aren't allowed to use out own headsets.

I use a Plantronics MS250 in a B717, excellent headset. Light, comfortable, good audio Tx & Rx. Plantronics | MS250

Headset advice

Hello Shooting Star,

I've never regretted buying my Bose A20 headset. In helicopters, more than fixed wing jets, I believe there are many really damaging audible frequencies from the gearbox and main rotor, to which the PiC is vulnerable.

Look after your hearing with the A20 kit. Why not borrow some from a colleague before you cough up £975. I think you'll find it's worth it.

Bose A20 fan here. Use it in the Hawker 800. Brilliant.
Used to use the Sennheiser KA25 (ANR). It was good, much better than the Telex 850 (ANR) and Telex 750's we used to use.

Another vote for the Bose A20 (757/767).

Bose QC15 with a UFlyMike addition: about £380 and utterly brilliant, plus you can still use them to listen to your iPad / iPhone / MP3.
