Conversion of Australian ATPL to UK ATPL
Does anyone have an idea of what requirements there are for me to obtain a UK ATPL. I have 7500 hours, 4621 hours command including A300B4 1200 hours command and BAE146 900 hours command. I have emailed the CAA but no response yet!
I have an Aussie ATPL and class one medical

Hello wa4lp3, I think the rules have changed recently under JAR, but under the CAA rules you would have been exempt all the 'hoop jumping' that most other aussies have had to do to get their UK ATPL. The CAA would give you a UK ATPL on the strength that you had 3000+hrs on Jets, although I think this had to be applied for through an employer. Under JAR I am not sure of the requirements, probably the CAA do not know either! There is a chance that this route is no longer available which would mean having to do all the JAR ground exams, no mean feat, and very time consuming. Maybe it would be an idea to contact a Jet operator in the UK and ask if the old route still applies as I am sure they will know for their own benefit, even if they are not recruiting. Someone like easyJet might be worth asking as they are needing pilots. Good Luck in any case.
