Bluebaron - so you have tried Touchdown and no joy there? Mmmmm, they are advertising 1 week full board and flights to Maldives for £376 plus transfers. Now that's a bargain !! Try www.searcheurope.com

I wouldn't say Touchdown is a particularly good option at the minute. You can buy many flights on OPODO far cheaper than Touchdown are offering them to staff. Also, Touchdown charge for hotels per person. On the net, many of these hotels are the same price PER ROOM.

We went to Italy for a week last month; we booked the whole thing except the internal train journeys through Touchdown. . .. .Whilst the overall price was very competitive I have to say that the hotels were of dubious quality - allegedly three-star but in reality absolute bargain basement "tourist " places full of US schoolkids drinking at 2am. Could say that we got what we paid for, but with hindsight I'm sure we could have done better on the net - in quality if not in price.
Controversial, moi?
I have just booked a hotel (one that I am familiar with) through Touchdown. I booked via the internet and when I hadn't heard anything 24 hours later I called. Usual 'Press 1 for sales'etc. and then held for 35 minutes to speak to somebody. Agreed the price and paid by CC.When the invoice arrived I had been charged 1.5% CC surcharge!. .. .OK it is arguable that the charge is justified but I think I should have been told before I booked.. .. .Not impressed.

People expect Touchdown to be cheaper because they are 'interline'. In reality that seems to be a myth..they're just a travel agent pitching at a captive market and they down that job OK. If you book a package, what you save on the flight (if anything) is made up on the Hotel charges. If people want to shop around they will often find a better deal available if they look hard enough. In reality not that many people can be bothered.

Interesting views being posted here. I've used Touchdown many times and have always found them to be cheaper than anyone else I've looked at. I suppose ultimately, it depends on the package one opts for. My previous example above of £376 plus transfers for a week in Maldives full board INCLUDING flights, is, IMHO a bargain. Might just have to book it myself. Why break the habit of a lifetime and go somewhere else. Oh yeh, I'm doing that in October - Disney Land (deep joy)

Picking up on what M.Mouse says, why do all travel agents charge the customer the 1.5% credit card handling fee, whereas every other business in the world absorbs the cost themselves?

....and why are they economical with the truth?. .. ."It's not us that makes the charge, it's the credit card company sir".. .. .Factually correct, but doesn't help!

Hey, found a great site for finding staff travel deals. This site has a portal that links to most all of the interline travel sites. They also have a forum dedicated exclusively to interline travel. Check out www.nonrev.net/
