Low flying jet??

Low flying jet??
On Thursday I noticed two very low flying jets over Lingfield approaching Gatwick - and I mean really low. I don't know what type they were but at least one of them had 4 engines. Does anybody know why they could have been flying so low? All other jets were flying at normal height as far as I could see.
