Radiation from AWACS
To any radiation experts out there
I believe that Military controllers have to apply greater than standard separation between a radiating AWACS and certain types to avoid setting their weapons off.
A couple of questions arise
1 Is there any potential for interference of a radiating AWACS on any glass cockpit civil types as we frequently apply standard 1000 feet separation between these? Given mobile phones are not kosher I assume an AWACS could be a potential problem?
2 Is the AWACS likely to be irradiating the pax on other a/c at 1000 ft separation? How are the AWACS crew protected?
