Post How do I get a job in flight ops?

Hi, I currently work for an engineering consultants writing reports and would very much like to work in flight ops, specifically despatch, but info on anything else is welcome. I'd really just like advice and comments to see if it really is what I want to do as I made a career move to this job that I am in now and am realising that it was a bit of a mistake as I don't really enjoy it at all. So guess what I am asking is: can anyone tell me what it is like, hours, pay, training etc. And how to get a foot in the industry.
Thanks for all your help!!
