Good point. BA's attitude was always that if Laker, Air Europe, Dan Air etc couldn't make a success of the routes then they should go to Big Airways.
They can't be made to give them back but there is no reason why they can't be allocated to surviving companies such as British Midland and Easyjet.

My understanding is that the slot has to be used 80% of the time. If it isn't, it's up for grabs.
I've also heard that BA & VS are off to Europe to try and get this ruling put on hold, so that when things pick up, they take back the slots and don't have to bid for them!
