Converting from JAA to FAA

Does anyone know the regulations regarding conversion of JAA ATPL to FAA ATP? Are there any pilots out there who have made the transition from airline pilot in Europe to airline pilot in the US? I'd be very intersted to hear any observations/comments on differences in job satisfaction,lifestyle etc.
