Moving to Oz
I previously posted this on PPRuNe but perhaps it would get more of a response on this forum:
Dear All,
I am thinking of fleeing our horrid cloudy, windy country and settling in lovely, sunny Australia for 2-3 years, the idea being to get an Australian ATPL or CPL and hang around in the country working afterwards, then maybe I'll come back to miserable England with a couple of thousand hours and have a much better chance of getting a job.
I have found the relevant immigration websites, but I was wondering if anyone out there has first hand experience, ie, has actually done this or knows someone who has. What is the deal for getting temporary residence/visas etc?

PS I am particularly interested in the 'Occupational trainee' visa as it seems to match my plans best
