Exclamation please read & help me (specially if u know Dan Bennett)

Hi, I know Daniel Bennett ( he comes on here all the time), really, really well-actually, I'm his G/friend. And as I'm sure many of you will know, he is only 16 but in August he will be getting his PPL license in Canada!! This is just a couple of months before his b/day so I (being the lovely girl I am) want to do something extra special for both of these events!!! Unfortunately- I dont have a clue about flying (I will be learning from dan-honest!)so I would really really like some help from someone on here (especially if you know him) as to what I could do for a new pilot!!! i want it to be flying related!! Please help me (i love him soooo much and hes done such lovely things for me- i want to re-pay him and show him how proud I am of him!!)any ideas welcome!!
Thanks alot Katie Garnett xxxx :confused

Hi Katie,

Nice idea. Several thoughts in no particular order:

a set of wings (badge/pin)
flying suit
flying jacket
flight bag to carry junk and picture of girlfriend

Where in Canada did he learn to fly?

Give my regards to Albert Square

Hi there KTDan,

A few suggestions if I might add:

1.- A book called " Handling the Big Jets "

2.- A pair of aviator's sunglasses

3.- Payment for 5 hours of flight instruction

4.- An aviation GPS

5.- An airplane model in diecast iron

Whatever you give him, hope he likes it.
I wish somebody did that for me.

Thumbs up

KTDan, get him a copy of "Fate Is The Hunter" by Ernest K. Gann, or if you can find it "The High And The Mighty" by the same author. Either one will always remind him why he wanted to become a pilot.

Code Blue, that pillar on Fogo Island, is that down near Twillingate and Mortons Harbour?

Yes, get him Fate Is The Hunter and maybe let him buy Handling The Big Jets for himself in a year or two.
Books tend to be cheaper than many of the other, desirable accessories to an aviating career.
Maybe take a surreptitious look in the back of his Pilot or Flying magazines too.

pigboat:

Fogo Twillingate and Moreton's Harbour may be part of 'the circle' as the song says, but the Flat Earthers only recognise the lump of rock on Fogo Island proper.

Don't mess about with books. Ring up his flying club, buy a couple of hours of flying time and let him take you flying. Ask his instructor ot suggest a nice destination and take the whole day over it.
