B777 glide landing at Heathrow
Was curious to know what changes to operating procedures were instigated as a result of this accident due to ice in the fuel system.
Well FWIW and as I recall it the temporary solution was a requirement for the selection of full power for ten (?) seconds shortly prior to top of descent and then a further requirement to ensure idle power was maintained for a minimum period of time (? 30 seconds) at some point during the decent itself - not certain about absolute timings I'm afraid, that's all gone from the old short term memory.....
All that has now gone following the fitting of modified heat exchangers.

At the design level, the intake to fuel heat exchange unit was modified. In this photo the inlet pipes protrude a few millimetres from the plate behind. In the redesign as I recall, they were made flush. I can't remember why this worked, but apparently it did.
