Question Should BA re-instate commision for Travel Agts

In Aprill BA introduced Flat Sector Fees for all Travel Agents. So on a longhaul the agent will get a flat £40 and not 9% of the fare. They adjusted fares down accordingly and were ready for the agent backlash. But. With recent events should they get the Agents back on board by re-instating commision. Many agents are switch selling wherever they can and the fact is BA are losing passengers everyday.

Some will say they only copied the way American carriers pay their agents, but, as I understand it that is widespread across all carriers over there.

So as BA are the only carrier (Low cost aside) who do this should they do a U turn.

Also can they now afford to bring back commision.

Wiyth the advent of the internet Airlines saw a way of making more money by dumping travel agents. These same agents had been the mainstay of the airline business since it started in a commercial way.
British Airways was the first to 'do the dirty' by opening their own Travel Shops.
Sheer greed really!
I do hope they will now beg for the Travel Agents to give them business- but they do not deserve forgiving.

Not a hope in hell. With every expense down to colour photocopying banned there's no way on earth that commision's coming back for the agents. In fact I'd be amazed if other major airlines didn't follow suit in order to save more cash. It hasn't hurt easyjet or Ryanair.

A very good point but Easyjet & Ryanair are direct sell. I believe the Majority of BA's business still comes from agents or did do until this change
