Any BAC1-11 people around?
I suppose this is a daft question!
I read that the 1-11 is a bit of a handful on a wet runway with a crosswind, especially if reverse thrust is used. If you, as a 1-11 skipper were faced with that, how would you deal with it? A lot of incident reports tell of 1-11s failing to stop at the end, or weathercocking off the side. Please don't say bad things about my favourite aircraft though!
Any other little 1-11 idiosyncrasies would be welcome too!

In the 4 years that I was lucky enough to fly the 1-11, I always found its manners on the runway were very good and very controlable and stoping presented no real problems as long as one landed the aircraft in the right place at the right speed.It really was a lovely aeroplane to fly, I loved it, it was just a shame it didn't go up.

i flew the 1-11-500 for 4 years, it was my first jet and it was a piece of cake to fly, it just didn't go very fast and was generally underpowered in a hot and humid climate. However i have a lot of fond memories of that aircraft, built like a tank, instantaneous spool up, very forgiving and the easiest T-tail aircraft to fly and land. Transitioned to the 727 afterwards, that was a different story, now that is a handfull to land in blustery conditions.
A little off topic (Please forgive me) but I believe the 1-11 will stop flying in the UK after 31/03/02. Does anybody know any details of last flights as I would like to get some pictures before this aircraft disapears.

The 1-11 was the aircraft I always wanted to fly but I dont suppose now that I ever will.
When people say it wont go up or it was slow, what do they mean? How fast did it cruise and what was a typical rate of climb above FL200?
