Question Possible to disable flight recorders from cockpit?

Related to the events of 11 September,
isn't it possible to disable the flight recorders if you know which breaker(s) to pull? I would think that would have been part of the training if they wish to conceal their identities.

I don't believe that fundamentalist suicide bombers regard concealing their identities as a high priority.

I am so frustrated over media coverage of this!

If the terrorists fought the flight crew, then got in the seats, then found the CVR breaker and pulled it - that would stop the tape, thus saving the preceding 30 minutes! It would contain the time of the struggle!

The Fedex crew that succesfully fought off a hijacker did precisely that - after landing, they pulled the c/b to save the relevant time period. That tape was used to prosecute and convict the criminal of hijacking - a life sentence, as opposed to a few years for attempted murder.

Huck, thanks for at least answering the question.

Yes, that is so clear by the way their organizations have stepped forward to claim responsibility. NOT

Reading reports about the discovery of two flight recorders so far, I wonder just how much useful information will be found. Judging from the training the terrorist pilots most certainly received, it is not beyond belief this would be part of the training. Granted, if a struggle in the cockpit took place, it would be recorded. It is all too possible the flight crew was lured or coerced out of the cockpit before the hijackers entered, so even that is questionable.

The FBI has disclosed their names. Their organisation(s) have not, as they have achieved their objectives and, I am sure, don't wish to expedite the process of retribution.

Their families will, needless to say, receive the usual cheques from one of our favourite benevolent world leaders.

Yes, they could have disabled it. They may have been suicidal fanatics but the hijack seemed very organised and planned.
