Post Fleet decision sitting on the fence in Gulf Air

The last few months of Airbus leases etc indicated the lean towards Boeing planes.
Recent news paper article contradicts that and is studying the viability of A330's and A320's,period.
Cash injection is foreseen from the controlling states in the Gulf.
Any takers for which way its going to go?????

Think the moderators got a little overzealous with this one.

This is looking to start a rumor, and absolutely belongs in rumors and news.

anyway, Im going with Boeing...

Gulf Air has 14 A320s ordered (operating 12, crashed/written off two), operating 6 A330’s (converted it's order for 6 A330-300 to A330-200’s) and 6 A340’s (operating 5)

I think the A332 A4O-KD, and A4O-KE are to be leased to TAM this month as PT-MSE and PT-MSD respectively.

No further news in either the Boeing or Airbus camp on the way forward. Some indications of others in the region is below….

Emirates will order B773ERs or A346 and 3 additional A380s. An order for 14 A320/B737 is also rumored. The B777 order is all set to be announced at Paris. Rolls-Royce is set to win its largest ever order, worth up to $1.8bn, from United Arab Emirates, which is expected to add a further 60 aircraft to its expanding fleet.

Egyptair is in negotiations for A330-200s to replace the A300-600s. Should be for 7 orders plus 3 options.

El Al will order 4 additional B772ERs.

Iran Air will order 4 additional A332.

Qatar Airways will order either 6 A333 or B772 for delivery in 2003. Qatar has signed a LOI for five A330-200s and 3 options plus a second LOI for two A380-800s. The A330 will be powered by the GE CF6-80E1A3 engines and first delivery will be in Apr-02. The A380s are due for delivery in Nov-07

The Qatar A380-800s were identified as 747-SP replacements. In 2000 Qatar's national GDP grew between 18-20%, so it would appear on paper that the airline can expect the sort of explosive traffic growth that could support its surprise A380 order.

Yemenia will order 2 A333 or B777 and 4 A320/B737.

Oman Air has signed a LOI for 2 B737-700 with delivery for Jul-02 and May-04. They took two options for B737-700. The second part of the LOI covers the lease of one B737-800 and two B737-700 from ILFC for delivery between 4Q-01 and Jul-02.
