Question why do 737s taxi sideways?

Maybe this should be in the tech. forum, but I am intrigued why the 737 taxis sideways, whenever I am behind one the nosewheel can be tracking down the centerline but the tail is always a few feet off to the left. I have never noticed this on any other aircraft.

A really boring skipper who knew all this sort of stuff told me once that it's because the 737 gear has +/- 3deg lateral capability and the the a/c may have landed with drift still on.
Absolutely no idea if this is true or not. It certainly didn't come up in the tech course.
Happy Xmas etc
