Thumbs down TWA tickets

Someone tell me......how can TWA just close the door from one day to the next, without notifying their pax who find themselves with airline tickets but without the airline?

A few hundred people arrived at LLBG yesterday for a TWA flight to the US but they found empty counters and were sent on their way.
How can this happen?

Does anybody know the reg's regarding this kind of situation? I would have expected that AA would take over those flights...

Thanks in advance for your info

TWA will operate under their own colors for a few more years even IF AA buys the whole thing.
As of right now, TWA are on their own.

According to their website, TW was contacting passengers to make alternative arrangements. Of course if the pax don't leave contact info, ther's not much that can be done. Always wise to confirm a flight the day before, had they done so they would have known that TW tickets were being honoured (SA) on LH,AF,BA,SK,CO and OA.

TW and AA are still operating separately and I doubt dropping TLV was prompted by AA. TW has pulled out of other routes eg. LIS on short notice before.
