Post Take Off Run on MD80 series

Is it just me or do these aircraft take an abnormal amount of time to get to V1, I work at Glasgow Airport which has a good size runway and every time I see a Spanair, Novelair or Onur Air, these jets use almost every inch of runway avialable, I realise they maybe heavy on take off but the 767's, DC10's, A330's, 747's cope so does the L1011's....well just!!

Just curious!!

At Spanair, if possible we use a reduced thrust take off. This is to preserve engine life.Less thrust means it takes longer to reach V1 i.e. more runway.
