Too old to start at 35?
I heard that airlines world-wide are facing pilot shortages. But is it realistic to expect to land a job as a pilot if one begins flight training at 35?
My 35 year old boyfriend, who has an aeronautical engineering degree, thinks that he will be too old to be hired by the time he becomes qualified for any type of flying. Is it really true that there are untold guidelines that pilots past a certain age will not be hired?
Your input will be greatly appreciated.

The latest thread on this topic can B found here. 35 is definitely not too old to start. I've been flying with 2 F/Os who started their training @ 32 & 34, & now fly the 737 for VEx. Their chances to fly one day in the left seat are not as good though, but does it matter ? The good thing is U probably have a lot more money for your training than say the average wannabe in his 20s, & U could always go back to your present job if needed. Go for it !
