Unhappy

I always thought it was so the pax (and cabin crew) are more attuned to the proceedings (takeoff). ??

But I am just a wannabe.....so don't quote me.

Hi,

Almost correct - it is done during night and dusk operations to accustom pax and C/A eyes to the lower ambient light level that could be expected after a crash...

Unless of course 120 t. burning A1 could be counted as a light source

Oh no! It's doing it again!

Uneducated guess:

To preserve the night vision of other pilots who might be taxying, or to avoid confusion with white R/way lights for A/c on approach?

No, No, No, it's so you can't find your shoes or stuff you have in the seat pocket?

Has no-one read about rods and cones and the time it takes for your eyes to acclimatise to the dark?

Go and read your books, you'll see it's to allow the pax time to adjust, so in the event of a total power failure (eg rejected take off due fire, all systems shut down, emergency lights fail, pax left in dark!)
