Harpendon (sp?) has always been my favorite. Gleneagles is more like a hotel and fairly modern and always treated my crew well. Harpendon House not quite as glam, but ok for a short stay.
Best deal about this village is there are 8 or 10 pubs within walking dist on the main drag, and they have their own train stop. (One stop before Luton heading to London.)
Have a great stay and say hi to all at the "George" if you get there.

I too would recommend Harpenden as it is much nicer than Luton. The link below will give you some places there.
