Fairings on Engine Nacelle
There is a plate on the inboard section of the engine nacelle on the Airbus 319, B 737-400 and probably others. The plate is mounted forward of the wing at about 2 o clock on the left engine and 10 o clock on the right engine, is about 600mm long and projects about 150 from the nacelle. It doesnt appear to have an aerofoil shape but has a rounded front edge.. .. .Anyone know what purpose it serves?

Most certainly some sort of aerodynamic purpose: perhaps an aeronautical eng could enlighten us? Probably does something clever to the airflow to get us more lift.. . . . [ 12 March 2002, 12:39: Message edited by: Lucifer ]
