737-800 Gust Limits

Not sure if this is quite the right place for a query from SLF, but I'm due to fly into Dublin on Boxing Day on a 737-800 and the current forecast for that date is for SSE winds of 33kts gusting to 52kts. Ought I to start looking for a comfortable bench at Gatwick that evening instead?

If that forecast turns out to be correct, then it looks as if you'll be 'arriving' on Dublin's SSE pointing, 6798 ft (2072m) long secondary runway - 16 - which has an instrument approach procedure to it.

X-wind limit for landing is 33kts on a dry runway and 30kts on a wet runway.
Gusts are accounted for by taking the whole x-wind component plus half the gust factor i.e.

RW16 in use - wind 190/25 gusting 40kts
X-wind component 30 degrees, so x-wind equals 12.5kts. Gust is 15kts so half the gust equals 7.5kts. TOTAL X-WIND = 20kts.

SSE winds of that intensity will almost certainly lead to ILS RW16 being operational as from that direction there will be very little x-wind component. I reckon you'll be fine. Will be a bit bumpy on approach, but the boys (and the girls of course) are well able for it. They will be fortified with turkey sandwiches!!
