Parting out A 318s

Just read in Flight that 3 year old A 318s are being parted out after several others have gone the same route.
What is the background to the decision to scrap these relatively new aircraft?

Thanks in anticipation.

Agree. There are cheaper alternatives to the A318. The A318 was a selling flop.
