when does a flight crew apply ETOPS Authority
- cannot understand the question - can you explain please?

A/c must be certified and maintained for 180/240
Airline approved for same
Flt Crew trained for same

What is 'apply' and 'authority'?

The brief answer is...when the specific crew and aircraft are approved, and the flight anticipated meets the airline ops specs, in all respects.

BOAC, Authority means operational approval given to an operator by the relevant State Aviation Authority to operate ETOPS 180 mins or ETOPS 240 min.

Roger - so not a lot to do with 'flight crew'? .....and 'apply'?

I have no 'authority' to 'apply' ETOPS anything unless the company I operate for authorise it. Only exemption would be an a/c owner who might elect to 'apply' 180/240.
