Easterly arrivals into EGCN (DSA).

Hi there,

First of all, please excuse me if I have posted this topic in the wrong area of the forum; this is my first post.

I am interested in the procedure for Easterly arrivals into Doncaster (EGCN) I am aware of the 'FNY' arrivals from the North, South and Southwest respectively, but what is the procedure for aircraft approaching from the East; e.g. those en-route from Turkey and Greece arriving via Amsterdam and the 'SPL' VOR?

Do they proceed direct to GOLES and subsequently receive vectors to the localiser from ATC, or is one forced to approach form the Southeast on (U)T420 via. the Trent VOR or 'ROBIN'?

Many thanks in advance.

From the East, CN arrivals route OTBED VEGUS FNY

London drop to FL280 and transfer to Scottish East (ex Manc) who then
drop to FL160 and hand over to CN Apc at OTBED. CN Apc do the rest

Hope makes sense

Thanks a lot for your swift reply; that's cleared things up for me! I thought it was odd that NATS charts didn't specify an Easterly arrival route.

Many thanks!

It usually ends up as a bit of a late descent (due keeping you in CTA) but seems to work ok most of the time. If the handover to CN is a bit late then you can always ask to overfly FNY then vectors to give you some more track miles. CN ATC is excellent and always happy to help.

Thank you, Wizzaird. That's helpful info

If you did happen to have a late T/D, do you mean that you would hold over the FNY NDB and then backtrack for the appropriate ILS?

Thanks again

Tom.

No requirement to hold. CN ATC will just give you vectors from the overhead in order to give you a few extra miles. As I mentioned, it is not usually required but just occasionally.
