a quick reply:

Independent approaches can be conducted without traffic on an adjacent runway affecting the approaches of either aircraft. For example the runways are sufficiently separated laterally to facilitate normal separation criteria.

Dependent approaches must consider separation between aircraft approaching on adjacent runways. For example, the runways at BRU, SFO, LHR etc restrict the approaches due to insufficient lateral separation, converging courses etc.
