query on flying for recency in india with a faa cpl?

hey,
I have a FAA CPL( only single engine ) with IR. I also have valid CANADIAN RTR(A) License with me.
I have cleared all the papers and wpc rtr(a) part 1 exam too.
I got a rtr (c) permit from wpc.
I lost my recency and i planned to do my flying in india and the flight schools say i cannot fly with rtr(c). When i spoke to wpc guys, they say i can fly as i have a canadian license and rtr(c) permit from wpc.
I am confused. The flight school guys saying me to convert my rtr5 permit into a frtol first. Can i do that. I am confused pls do help me out..
