Boeing 747 Emergency Evacuations

All,

Doing a bit of research for a project within our RFFS, would anyone happen to know:

1. How many (approx) emergency evacuations of Boeing 747s there has been over the 40 years the aircraft has been in service?

2. Has a 747-300/400 ever been evacuated from the upper deck?

Thanks in advance,

AFFF.

I was on that flight as a passenger (BA288). I Evacuated from the standard flight deck. Passengers from the upper deck said it was like a nightmare. It was bad enough for me.

Just thought you might like to know x

rhinestonecowgirl - Sorry to piss on your chips, but no-one evacuated through the flight deck, the hatch stayed closed. Many reports of a well executed and orderly evacuation, which ties in with reports given by the Airport Fire Service at the time.

I think you will find that rhinestonecowgirl means that she evacuated through the lower deck, hence the reference to "upper deck".

The last time I landed one, the " standard flight deck " on the 747 was in the same place it's always been, thanks - at the front, at the top.
