Base Captain/Base Manager Responsibilities
Generally, what are the responsibilities of a Base Captain or a Base Manager (FO in the job) and what extra payment would one expect? Does it usually affect the number of hours flown (ie more time spent in the office)? I'm thinking of a small company with fewer than 40 pilots, operating from a second base with maybe 2-4 crews.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure for your operation, from my previous experience, the Base Captain was responsible for putting out small fires from time to time, dealing with pilots that received complaints from cabin crew, liaising with any ATC problems, receiving operational suggestions from crews.

From my experience, expect between 3 and 9% of your regular salary as the "Base Captain" extra payment.
- You'll be the guy delivering the bad news about broken promises from managment....
- You be begging people for that report that the CP is waiting for...
- You'll become the master of Chart and Manual amendments...
- You'll fly MORE, as your "Position" expects you to be available for flights on your day off, vacation, etc...
- You'll probably get rostered for office cleaning, etc
- You'll arrange taxis and hotels when the CP or other managers come to visit your base.
